A ULD (unit load device) is a tool used to transport cargo during airfreight transport. It is designed specifically to condense goods for faster loading onto an airplane.

An airline may accept loose air cargo tenders. The airline will then load the air shipment into a ULD alongside other cargoes.
Yes, shippers have the option to reserve a ULD container and self-load it. The complete ULD can then be picked up by a trucker at the destination and delivered to a warehouse for deconsolidation.
