LTL service stands for Less Than Truckload service. It is commonly used for smaller shipments that don't require a full truckload.
LTL vehicles pick up and deliver multiple smaller shipments to fill up a truck, making it a cost-effective option.
LTL shipments take longer to reach their destinations compared to Full Truckload (FTL) shipments.
LTL carriers transport freight from one trucking terminal to another while en route to the final destination.
For instance, if a consignment is going from LA to New York, it may be transferred to terminals in Phoenix, Dallas, and so on until it reaches the New York terminal before final delivery.
Due to the longer travel time and shared space, shipping via LTL is generally less expensive than using a full truckload.
