Checking in for shipments is referred to as "gating in."
For LCL (Less than Container Load) shipments, they must gate in at the Container Freight Station (CFS) before the CFS Cut-off.
For container shipments, the container must gate in at the Container Yard (CY) before the CY cut-off.
Once the shipment is checked in, the carrier will lock in the quoted prices.
